Aura Parker
Aura Parker is an exciting voice in children’s picture books. Her stories inspire courage, confidence and imagination in young readers. Her work is insightful and imaginative with a playful sense of humour. Aura is the author and illustrator of five picture books published with Penguin Random House and Scholastic Australia which have been published internationally and received awards such as Children's Book Council of Australia Notables for TWIG and MEERKAT SPLASH, and the Speech Pathology Book of the Year Award 2020 for MEERKAT SPLASH. MEERKAT SPLASH has also appeared on the ABC's enduring Play School program, read by Lachy Wiggle. Aura's latest book is THE SILLY SEABED SONG, which is brimming with bright giggling sea creatures and words that are fun to say. Aura works from her studio in Sydney and illustrates her picture books in watercolour, gouache, pen and coloured pencil, mostly by hand and she also works digitally depending on the project by drawing and painting with Wacom using Photoshop and illustration software.
