Workshop: From The Page To The Stage
Poetry for Primary and Secondary Students and Teachers.
Keen to learn how to make poetry accessible, relevant and engaging to your students? See poetry brought to life by Steven Herrick, one of Australia's most popular poets for children and teens. Steven is widely recognised as a pioneer of the verse-novel genre. His work allows students to quickly recognised poetry as being accessible, entertaining and relevant to their lives. During this session, Steven will use his expertise and experiences to talk about why poetry is important, how easy and accessible it can be, and why the written word (the book) and the spoken word (the stage) are an integral approach to poetry. This talk will also touch on the 'verse-novel', which Steven refers to as 'the cheats way' of getting students to read poetry.
